Can I work with the tools as an Owner?

Yes, we have a working owner agreement that allows you to work in the field as needed for your business. Owners have options to opt out of certain benefits.

Will I be able to keep all of my current employees?

Yes, we would work with you to classify all of your current field staff appropriately and they would continue working for you.

What happens if the Union goes on strike?

We have a no strike clause in our agreement, so work stoppages of any kind are prohibited by the members of the Local.

What if my employees don't need or want healthcare or other benefits?

Healthcare and other benefits are negotiated by the members of the Union and the employer partners.  Members working under the contract are not eligible to opt out.

Can I hire field employees outside of the Union Hall.

Yes, we will work with you to make that happen, but they would have to become a Union member and be referred through the Union Hall.

Can I get rid of lazy workers?

Yes, our contract does not have any seniority language or any language that enables laziness, poor production, or performance issues.

Do I need to provide all tools for my field employees?

All field employees, including journeymen, apprentices and field supervision are required to supply their own non powered hand tools less than 14" in length to do the work.  Employers are required to furnish all power tools and specialty tools.
