The REAL truth about the Employee Free Choice Act

Many business organizations, including Associated Builders and Contractors and most Chamber of Commerce associations are completely distorting the truth about the EFCA to keep the American workforce from recovering from many years of voicelessness and keeping us from recovering from their complete pillaging of the American economy.

These associations have raised over 500 million dollars to date to continue their fabrications about the EFCA. Their enormous budget has, and will continue to buy large editorials in newspapers and construction trades magazines, radio spots and tv spots. They will use this vast fortune in any way to keep you from not only having a voice at work but to squash any chance we would have at having a stronger voice collectively in political matters. They want very much to continue to have all of the influence in all matters locally, statewide and nationwide. How un-American is that?

The Empolyee Free Choice Act would give workers the ease of organizing free of illegal coersion from employers, would impose actual penalties for the multitude of ways that they currently break labor laws during organizing efforts, and would stop them from delaying collective bargaining eternally in the court system.

Here is an example of how things would change under the EFCA:
Let's say that the majority of employees at VanderWad Electric signed union authorization cards. It is the employers choice to accept this or demand a secret ballot election( remember; it is the employees choice to join a union, not the employers). The employer would undoubtedly start a union busting campaign involving illegal coersion, firings, spying on employees, threatening and many other illegal activities that have shrunk the union workforce to a bare minimum. Whereby, bringing the American economy to the brink of collapse.
Now let's say that the same employees sign union authorization cards under the Employee Free Choice Act. The employEES get to decide whether to accept the simple majority of cards signed or whether THEY want a secret ballot election.
That is the truth. ABC and other business leaders desperately want you to believe that employees will lose the right to a secret ballot election. This law will actually untie a right that the people won many decades ago. Business leader coersion infected this right for far too long. Looking at the current state of affairs in our economy is obvious proof of their lack of ability to make decisions where ALL of the people should have power to make those critical decisions.
Please contact your representative and inform him/her of the need for this act. Also write letters to the editor telling of the pathetic lies being spewed about the Employee Free Choice Act.
